Maher: It is ten now, and I need three people to fix the registration system before it opens tomorrow.

Rania: And I need two people to prepare and review the report before today’s management meeting at four.

Maher: Our team has only four people. We cannot meet both requests in full at the same time.

Rania: Let us compare the consequences of delay and the flexibility of deadlines, instead of simply calling each project urgent.

Maher: If the fault continues, students will be unable to register tomorrow. Supplier support is available only until three today.

Rania: The report supports a decision being made today. Postponing it until tomorrow means management would discuss incomplete data.

Maher: A registration breakdown is more harmful than delaying an internal report, is it not? More people would be affected.

Rania: I acknowledge its wider impact, but numbers alone do not settle priority. The report has a closer deadline and an important consequence.

Maher: That is true. Do you need both people together the whole time, or can preparation and review be separated?

Rania: The data is ready. One analyst can prepare the report by twelve, then review takes an hour.

Maher: Fixing the fault needs three people for two hours, then two people are enough for testing until two.

Rania: Then the fourth person starts the report now, and one of the three moves to reviewing it at twelve.

Maher: That way we do not stop either project, and we leave an hour to contact the supplier after testing the system.

Rania: As for the review, it needs someone familiar with the data. Simply having someone available is not enough.

Maher: Omar is suitable for both tasks: he knows the system and the data. He helps with the repair first, then reviews the report.

Rania: What if the repair is unfinished at twelve? I am concerned Omar will stay there and the review will be delayed.

Maher: We request supplier support immediately, and the two people continue the repair with them. Omar moves to the review on time.

Rania: I agree, provided the team understands this handover. We would then reassess the testing time and whether it can be completed.

Maher: We will review progress at twelve and identify actual obstacles, not just the percentage completed.

Rania: If the information changes, we will adjust the plan based on the new risks and inform the owners of both projects.

Maher: I will explain to the registration team that assigning someone to the report does not diminish the importance of their problem.

Rania: And I will explain the work sequence to management. Our priority is justified by deadlines, consequences and skills, rather than forcefulness of demands.
