Sami: I am considering accepting only electronic payments because counting cash delays closing my shop, and matching amounts to invoices is difficult.

Huda: I understand the difficulty, but my father shops here daily and does not use a card.

Sami: Someone in the family could pay for him; the transaction is quicker than counting coins, especially when paying for small purchases.

Huda: But he wants to shop independently. Having to ask for help to buy bread is unreasonable.

Sami: You are right. I do not want to lose customers, but preparing change takes time.

Huda: Have you measured that time, or do you remember busy days more than others?

Sami: I recorded ten extra minutes yesterday, but one day is insufficient to judge. The stock delivery was also late.

Huda: The terminal may also fail. How will the customer pay if the connection drops?

Sami: That happened once, and I accepted cash then. So eliminating it completely is not a reliable solution.

Huda: You could encourage card payments while retaining the cash option for those who need it. Change could be prepared before the busy period.

Sami: I fear things will return to how they were, leaving the workload unchanged.

Huda: Try it for two weeks, recording closing time and transaction counts for each method, then compare. You need not record customers’ names.

Sami: Should I ask every customer to explain what prevents them from using a card?

Huda: No, that could embarrass them. Make the choice available to everyone without requiring justification.

Sami: I will display a notice explaining that we prefer cards and accept cash at the same price.

Huda: Keep the notice clear at the entrance so customers know their options before shopping.

Sami: I will prepare a small amount of change each morning and monitor whether it is enough.

Huda: Ask some customers about their experience too; speed is not the only measure of success. Some prefer cash to track their spending.

Sami: If the workload increases, I will review till organisation before considering removing cash.

Huda: That combines your convenience with customers’ needs without assuming their circumstances are identical.

Sami: I will start tomorrow and review the results after two weeks before making a permanent decision.

Huda: Good; improvement is useful when it makes shopping easier and leaves customers a method they can use. Choosing a different method does not mean rejecting improvement.
