سَلْمَى: لِنَفْصِلْ مَا أُنْجِزَ عَمَّا لَا نَمْلِكُ إِعْلَانَهُ. تَصْحِيحُ الْبَطَاقَةِ فِعْلٌ نَسْتَطِيعُ رُؤْيَتَهُ، أَمَّا الثِّقَةُ فَلَا أَسْتَطِيعُ إِثْبَاتَهَا نِيَابَةً عَنْ بَشِيرٍ. مَا الَّذِي سَيَجْعَلُ الْخُطْوَةَ الْمُقْبِلَةَ قَابِلَةً لِلْفَحْصِ دُونَ طَلَبِ تَصْدِيقٍ مُسْبَقٍ؟
لِينَا: كُنْتُ أُرِيدُ اللِّحَاقَ بِمَوْعِدِ الطِّبَاعَةِ، فَسَمَّيْتُ النَّصَّ جَاهِزًا قَبْلَ الْعَرْضِ. هَذَا يُفَسِّرُ قَرَارِي وَلَا يُبَرِّرُهُ. لَمْ يَكُنِ الْوَعْدُ مَشْرُوطًا بِرَاحَتِي، وَلَنْ أَحْتَفِظَ بِضَغْطِ الْمَوْعِدِ ذَرِيعَةً لِلْمَرَّةِ الْقَادِمَةِ.
بَشِيرٌ: لَا أَسْأَلُ هُنَا عَنْ نِيَّتِكِ. أَحْتَاجُ إِلَى مَعْرِفَةِ أَنَّ الْمَوْعِدَ لَنْ يَصِيرَ وَاجِهَةً لِقَرَارٍ سَبَقَهُ. إِذَا كَانَ النَّصُّ مَطْبُوعًا، فَقَدْ يَصِيرُ الرَّدُّ عَلَى تَعْلِيقِنَا أَصْعَبَ، وَلَوْ بَقِيَ مُمْكِنًا.
سَلْمَى: أَقْتَرِحُ اخْتِبَارًا صَغِيرًا لِبَطَاقَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، لَا تَسْلِيمَ الْمَعْرِضِ كُلِّهِ لِوَعْدٍ جَدِيدٍ. نُحَدِّدُ الْبِدَايَةَ وَالنِّهَايَةَ وَمَنْ يَفْحَصُهُمَا، وَمَا يَحْدُثُ عِنْدَ الْإِخْلَالِ. هَذَا لَا يَطْلُبُ مِنْ بَشِيرٍ أَنْ يَصِفَ الْعَلَاقَةَ بِأَنَّهَا أُصْلِحَتْ.
لِينَا: سَأَعْرِضُ مُسَوَّدَةَ بَطَاقَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فِي الْأَرْشِيفِ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ الْمُقْبِلِ عِنْدَ التَّاسِعَةِ صَبَاحًا. تَبْقَى ظَاهِرَةً حَتَّى التَّاسِعَةِ صَبَاحَ السَّبْتِ: خَمْسَةُ أَيَّامٍ كَامِلَةٌ. سَأَضَعُ عَلَيْهَا رَقْمَ النُّسْخَةِ، وَلَنْ أُرْسِلَهَا إِلَى الطِّبَاعَةِ خِلَالَ هَذِهِ الْمُدَّةِ.
بَشِيرٌ: صُورَةُ الْبِدَايَةِ لَا تُثْبِتُ أَنَّ الْبَطَاقَةَ بَقِيَتْ ظَاهِرَةً خَمْسَةَ أَيَّامٍ. وَلَنْ أَقْبَلَ أَنْ تَصِيرَ الْمُرَاقَبَةُ الْيَوْمِيَّةُ مُهِمَّتِي. أَسْتَطِيعُ قِرَاءَةَ النَّصِّ، لَكِنَّ الْوَعْدَ وَعْدُ الْأَرْشِيفِ، وَعَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ كَيْفَ الْتَزَمَ بِهِ.
سَلْمَى: سَأَفْحَصُ مَوْضِعَ الْعَرْضِ عِنْدَ الْبِدَايَةِ وَالنِّهَايَةِ، وَأُثْبِتُ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ فَقَطْ. نَحْتَاجُ أَيْضًا إِلَى سِجِلٍّ يَوْمِيٍّ مِنَ الْأَرْشِيفِ؛ فَزِيَارَتَايَ لَا تَكْشِفَانِ كُلَّ مَا حَدَثَ بَيْنَهُمَا. لَنْ نَصِفَ هَذَا الْفَحْصَ بِأَنَّهُ ضَمَانٌ مُطْلَقٌ.
لِينَا: سَأَتَوَلَّى السِّجِلَّ بِنَفْسِي عِنْدَ الظُّهْرِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِنَ الِاثْنَيْنِ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ، وَأَكْتُبُ أَيَّ انْقِطَاعٍ أَعْرِفُهُ. سَيَبْقَى السِّجِلُّ وَرَقِيًّا بِجَانِبِ الْبَطَاقَةِ. إِذَا غَابَ قَيْدٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْقُيُودِ، فَلَنْ أَعُدَّ الْخُطْوَةَ مُكْتَمِلَةً.
بَشِيرٌ: وَإِذَا لَمْ أَكْتُبْ تَعْلِيقًا، فَلَا تَقُولِي إِنَّنِي وَافَقْتُ عَلَى النَّصِّ. قَدْ أَخْتَارُ عَدَمَ الْمُشَارَكَةِ، أَوْ أَكُونُ مَشْغُولًا. لَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ يُسْتَخْدَمَ صَمْتِي لِإِثْبَاتِ نَجَاحِ الْخُطَّةِ أَوْ لِمَنْحِ الْبَطَاقَةِ تَأْيِيدًا لَمْ أُعْطِهِ.
سَلْمَى: سَنَكْتُبُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرِدْ تَعْلِيقٌ مِنْكَ، إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا مَا حَدَثَ، دُونَ تَفْسِيرِ السَّبَبِ. وَيَكُونُ فَحْصُ الْخُطْوَةِ صَبَاحَ السَّبْتِ عِنْدَ الْعَاشِرَةِ. لَا نَضَعُ مَشَاعِرَكَ بَنْدًا يَجِبُ أَنْ يَتَحَسَّنَ قَبْلَ إِغْلَاقِ السِّجِلِّ.
لِينَا: لَنْ أَطْبَعَ قَبْلَ اكْتِمَالِ الْمُدَّةِ وَفَحْصِ السِّجِلِّ وَالرَّدِّ عَلَى التَّعْلِيقَاتِ. لَا أَشْتَرِطُ تَأْيِيدَ بَشِيرٍ لِلطِّبَاعَةِ، وَأَتَحَمَّلُ قَرَارَ النَّشْرِ. لَكِنَّنِي لَنْ أَصِفَ فَحْصَ سَلْمَى لِلْخُطْوَةِ بِأَنَّهُ مُوَافَقَةٌ مِنْهَا عَلَى الْمَضْمُونِ.
بَشِيرٌ: الرَّدُّ لَا يَعْنِي كِتَابَةَ أَنَّ التَّعْلِيقَ وَصَلَ ثُمَّ تَرْكَهُ. أُرِيدُ أَنْ يَظْهَرَ مَا قُبِلَ وَمَا رُفِضَ وَسَبَبُ ذَلِكَ. قَدْ أَبْقَى مُعْتَرِضًا عَلَى الصِّيَاغَةِ، مَعَ إِقْرَارِي بِأَنَّ فُرْصَةً حَقِيقِيَّةً لِقِرَاءَتِهَا أُتِيحَتْ لِي.
سَلْمَى: سَيَبْقَى التَّعْلِيقُ وَجَوَابُ لِينَا فِي السِّجِلِّ، وَلَا يَجْعَلُ اسْتِمْرَارُ الْخِلَافِ وَحْدَهُ الْعَرْضَ صُورِيًّا. أَمَّا إِذَا غَيَّرَ الرَّدُّ مَعْنَى النَّصِّ، فَنَحْتَاجُ إِلَى خَمْسَةِ أَيَّامٍ جَدِيدَةٍ لِلنُّسْخَةِ الْمُعَدَّلَةِ قَبْلَ طِبَاعَتِهَا.
لِينَا: وَإِذَا تَأَخَّرَ بَدْءُ الْعَرْضِ أَوِ انْقَطَعَ الْعَرْضُ، فَسَأُوقِفُ الطِّبَاعَةَ وَأُبْلِغُكُمَا. نَبْدَأُ خَمْسَةَ أَيَّامٍ جَدِيدَةً مِنْ عَرْضِ النُّسْخَةِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى، وَنُحَدِّدُ فَحْصًا بَعْدَهَا. لَنْ يَبْقَى السَّبْتُ مَوْعِدًا ثَابِتًا إِذَا اخْتَلَّتِ الْبِدَايَةُ.
بَشِيرٌ: أُقَدِّرُ هَذَا التَّحْدِيدَ، لَكِنَّنِي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أَعِدَكِ بِالثِّقَةِ إِذَا نَجَحَتْ خُطْوَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ. يَهُمُّنِي أَنْ تَظْهَرَ الْوَاقِعَةُ كَمَا حَدَثَتْ، بِحُدُودِهَا.
سَلْمَى: وَلِهَذَا يَصِفُ تَقْرِيرُنَا الْمُدَّةَ وَالْقُيُودَ وَالتَّعْلِيقَاتِ، لَا عَوْدَةَ الثِّقَةِ عِنْدَ الْجَمِيعِ. بَشِيرٌ يَتَكَلَّمُ عَنْ مَوْقِفِهِ، وَأَنَا عَمَّا فَحَصْتُهُ. لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُنَا أَنْ يَجْعَلَ نَجَاحَ هَذِهِ الْبَطَاقَةِ شَهَادَةً بِمَشَاعِرِ الْحَيِّ كُلِّهِ.
لِينَا: أَطْلُبُ مِنْكَ فَقَطْ قِرَاءَةَ هَذِهِ الْبَطَاقَةِ إِذَا رَغِبْتَ؛ لَا أَطْلُبُ مُوَافَقَتَكَ عَلَى مَعْرِضٍ جَدِيدٍ. وَسَأَتَحَمَّلُ أَنَا عَرْضَهَا وَالسِّجِلَّ وَتَأْجِيلَ الطِّبَاعَةِ عِنْدَ اللُّزُومِ. لَنْ أَجْعَلَ غِيَابَكَ سَبَبًا لِتَجَاوُزِ الْخُطْوَةِ الَّتِي وَعَدْتُ بِهَا.
بَشِيرٌ: أَقْبَلُ قِرَاءَةَ هَذِهِ الْبَطَاقَةِ، لِأَنَّنِي أُرِيدُ فَحْصَ طَرِيقَةٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ، لَا لِأَنَّنِي ضَمِنْتُ نَجَاحَهَا. أَسْتَطِيعُ التَّوَقُّفَ عَنِ التَّعَاوُنِ بَعْدَهَا. وَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ، فَلَا يَظْهَرُ اسْمِي كَمُؤَيِّدٍ لِلْعَمَلِ الْمُقْبِلِ أَوْ مُرَاقِبٍ لَهُ.

لِينَا: خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَبْدُوَ اعْتِذَارِي فَاشِلًا. الْآنَ سَأَنْشُرُ وَصْفَ الْخُطْوَةِ الْمُتَّفَقِ عَلَيْهَا فَقَطْ. لَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُصْلِحَ صُورَتَنَا بِعِبَارَةٍ تُعِيدُ الْمُشْكِلَةَ نَفْسَهَا: أَنْ نُعْلِنَ مَا لَمْ يَقُلْهُ الْآخَرُونَ.

Lina — organisation leader: Our archive promised to display a draft exhibition caption for five days before printing it, and I printed it first. This is an imagined case; we have corrected the caption and I have published my apology. I thought we could now announce that trust had returned and resume work.
Bashir — community advocate: I acknowledge the correction and apology, but I have not said my trust has returned. The problem was not only a sentence, but bypassing time you had promised us. We had to object to something printed instead of a draft.
Salma — mediator: Let us separate what has been done from what we cannot announce. Correcting the caption is an action we can see; I cannot establish trust on Bashir’s behalf. What would make the next step open to checking without requiring belief in advance?
Lina — organisation leader: I wanted to meet the printing deadline, so I called the text ready before displaying it. That explains my decision without justifying it. The promise was not conditional on my convenience, and I will not retain deadline pressure as an excuse for next time.
Bashir — community advocate: I am not asking about your intention here. I need to know that the timing will not become a facade for a decision already made. Once the text is printed, responding to our comment may become harder, even if still possible.
Salma — mediator: I propose a small test involving one caption, rather than entrusting the whole exhibition to a new promise. We specify the start, end, who checks them and what happens if a step is missed. This does not ask Bashir to describe the relationship as repaired.
Lina — organisation leader: I will display a single draft caption in the archive next Monday at nine in the morning. It will remain visible until nine on Saturday morning: five full days. I will put a version number on it and will not send it for printing during that period.
Bashir — community advocate: A photograph at the start does not establish that the caption stayed visible for five days. I will not accept daily monitoring becoming my task. I can read the text, but the promise belongs to the archive, which must show how it kept it.
Salma — mediator: I will check the display location at the beginning and end, recording only what I see. We also need a daily archive record; my two visits do not reveal everything that happened between them. We will not describe this check as an absolute guarantee.
Lina — organisation leader: I will keep the record myself at noon every day from Monday to Friday, noting any interruption I know about. The paper record will remain beside the caption. If one of these entries is missing, I will not count the step as complete.
Bashir — community advocate: If I write no comment, do not say I approved the text. I may choose not to participate or may be busy. I do not want my silence used to establish the plan’s success or give the caption an endorsement I did not provide.
Salma — mediator: We will write that no comment was received from you, if that is what happened, without interpreting the reason. The step will be checked on Saturday morning at ten. We will not make your feelings an item that must improve before the record closes.
Lina — organisation leader: I will not print before the period is complete, the record checked and the comments answered. I do not make Bashir’s endorsement a printing condition, and I take responsibility for publication. But I will not describe Salma’s procedural check as her approval of the content.
Bashir — community advocate: Responding does not mean writing that the comment arrived and then leaving it there. I want what was accepted or rejected and why to be visible. I may remain opposed to the wording while acknowledging that I was given a real opportunity to read it.
Salma — mediator: The comment and Lina’s answer will remain in the record; continuing disagreement alone does not make the display a sham. If the response changes the text’s meaning, however, the revised version will need five new days before it is printed.
Lina — organisation leader: If the display starts late or is interrupted, I will stop printing and inform you both. We will begin five new days from redisplaying the version and schedule a check afterwards. Saturday will not remain a fixed deadline if the start is disrupted.
Bashir — community advocate: I appreciate the specificity, but I cannot promise you trust if one step succeeds. I want the event shown as it happened, within its limits.

Salma — mediator: I will record that your acceptance concerns reading one caption, and that the archive remains responsible for the step if you withdraw.
