Layla: We continue our live broadcast with Nadim, coordinator of the reading-support project. Programme producer Samar joins us in the studio to review the data. Nadim, how has the project’s presence in neighbourhoods changed?
Nadim: We opened four permanent centres instead of two, which extended access to families who had difficulty attending. We want to build on that presence in the next stage.
Samar: May I raise a point before we build on that number? The programme card shows four locations, but the more recent bulletin mentions two permanent centres. Are we talking about the same category?
Layla: Thank you for flagging that. I was about to ask about the stability of all four centres, and the question might rest on a mix-up. Let us clarify the distinction for listeners now: what is each location’s status, Nadim?
Nadim: Let me correct my wording: we have two permanent centres and two temporary trial sites. I combined them into one count, then used “permanent” inaccurately. An increase in locations does not mean the number of permanent centres has doubled.
Samar: I have the bulletin sent by the project: Al-Saha and Al-Hadiqa centres are permanent, while the exhibition and library sites are trials. This supports the correction, and I will include the bulletin’s name and date with the published summary.
Layla: Then the distinction between the two types is established. But can we say all four locations are operating today? I do not want us to correct one description and introduce a new assertion we have not checked.
Nadim: I cannot confirm that for all four. The library site’s term ended yesterday, and I have not yet received a decision extending it. The exhibition site’s announced term is continuing, and the two permanent centres are offering their usual sessions.
Samar: The bulletin was issued two days ago, so it establishes the classification we mentioned but does not settle the library’s status after its term ended. I will request an update and will not label it “closed” while that remains unconfirmed.
Layla: For those just joining us: the confirmed number of permanent centres is two, not four. The other two locations are trial sites, and we are still checking the library site’s status. Let us return to what this difference means for families.
Nadim: A permanent centre lets a family plan attendance over a longer period. A trial site tests demand in a new neighbourhood and may stop. Families are entitled to know that from registration.
Samar: The displayed card has been corrected to “two permanent centres,” with a reference to the two trial sites. I am saying this aloud as well for those who cannot see the screen, so the correction does not remain visual information only.
Layla: A listener might ask whether the initial description was intended to inflate the project’s achievement. I cannot judge intent, but the statement’s effect is clear. How do you take responsibility for that effect?
Nadim: I take responsibility for the wording I used, and I am not asking the audience to believe in my intention instead of checking the information. We will review the descriptions of sites in our announcements and clearly state each trial’s duration.
Samar: We bear responsibility too: our card used the list of locations in an earlier draft without indicating their types. That explains the source of the visual confusion, but does not excuse us from comparing it with the more recent bulletin before broadcasting.
Layla: We therefore identify the error in the guest’s remarks and in preparation, without either responsibility cancelling the other. My revised question is: what makes the two centres more stable than the temporary sites?
Nadim: The contracts for the two centres cover the coming year, whereas each trial site was allocated three months when launched. This is a difference in planning horizon, not a promise that the centres will never face challenges.
Samar: I will add a clarification to our written material: the number of locations does not by itself tell us the number of beneficiaries. We do not currently have updated capacity figures, so we will not infer from the corrected count that service has halved.
Layla: That prevents an exaggeration in the opposite direction. Nadim, if the library site does not continue, what will you tell families who depend on it? I am asking about a contingency plan, not announcing a closure now.
Nadim: We will contact them to offer available sessions at the two centres, explaining distance and times. I do not claim relocation is an equivalent alternative for everyone; some may be unable to attend, and we must record that gap.
Samar: A listener has asked whether we will delete the initial statement from the recording. We will keep the complete recording and add a clear notice at the error that states the correction and points to its explanation.
Layla: What about the short clip the team has prepared for publication? If it ends before the correction, the error will reach another audience even if the full recording contains the right clarification.
Nadim: Our team was waiting to share that clip. I will ask them to wait for the corrected version, and we will not use the initial statement as a standalone headline. Correcting information also includes how it is circulated.
Samar: The clip has not been published yet, and I have stopped its scheduled release. We will choose a section containing the correct count and the distinction between sites, then review the headline and accompanying text so they do not repeat the incorrect description.
Layla: Before we finish, thank you for making the correction directly. We retain our question about families’ access to the service, but now ask it on a more accurate basis. When will we receive an update on the library site?
Nadim: I will contact the site manager after the broadcast and send you whatever is confirmed before this evening. If the decision remains unresolved, I will say so explicitly: the deadline is for an update, not a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Samar: We will add the timestamped update to the episode page and preserve a clear distinction between the confirmed correction and the information we await. Later listeners can then see what we knew during the broadcast and what emerged afterwards.
