Mazin finds their conversation interrupted by phone messages. Hamid is expecting an important arrival call, so they agree on a meal routine with a clear exception.

Mazin: Can we talk about the phone for a moment? Our conversation stopped twice when you looked at messages.
Hamid: Sorry, I thought a quick look would not interrupt you. But I missed part of what you said.
Mazin: It is all right, but I would prefer us to focus on our conversation during lunch. We do not meet often these days.
Hamid: I understand. However, I am waiting for a call from my brother today. He will arrive by train, and I will go to pick him up from the station.
Mazin: That is different. Will he call you before arrival or afterwards? I want to understand the timing of the call.
Hamid: The train was delayed, and we do not know the time precisely. He will call me before arrival so I can get ready to leave.
Mazin: Then we do not need to switch the phone off completely. You can take his call and leave the other messages for later.
Hamid: That works. I will put it in my pocket and answer if the caller is my brother. I will not open messages every minute.
Mazin: And I will put my phone in my bag on silent. I am not expecting an essential call today.
Hamid: And if my brother calls, would you prefer me to step away from the table briefly until I finish?
Mazin: Yes, take the time you need to understand his timing. Then tell me if you need to leave early.
Hamid: Thank you. I was worried you might think I was ignoring you because I need to keep track of his arrival.
Mazin: It is clearer now. Explaining the reason from the start helps me understand the situation without guessing.
Hamid: Next time I will tell you before the meal if I am waiting for something important.
Mazin: And I will do the same. I want an agreement that suits us both, not a rule I ask only you to follow.
Hamid: I agree. And after lunch we can read messages. We do not need to reply to all of them during our conversation.
Mazin: And if we find that this agreement does not suit another situation, we will discuss it and adjust it together.
Hamid: Good. My phone is in my pocket now, and I will wait only for my brother’s call. Will you finish the story of your trip?
Mazin: Gladly. I was talking about the village I visited and the path near the river.
Hamid: I remember that part. Go on; I am listening now, and I want to know what happened after that.
