Nour: I need a laptop for writing reports and watching lectures. What do you think of these two?
Dalia: Let us compare them according to your needs: the more expensive laptop is not always the best fit for you. What is your budget?
Nour: I have one thousand five hundred riyals, but I want to keep some money for buying a bag.
Dalia: The first costs one thousand two hundred riyals, and the second costs one thousand five hundred, according to the two price cards.
Nour: The first is lighter than the second, and that matters to me because I also carry many books.
Dalia: True, but the second has a bigger screen and more storage space. Do you need that storage?
Nour: I do not store large files, and I think light weight matters more to me on the bus.
Dalia: The seller says the first laptop’s battery lasts four hours and the second laptop’s battery lasts six hours.
Nour: My lectures usually take two hours, and I can charge the laptop at home afterwards.
Dalia: Let us first ask him how the battery was tested: a short trial does not establish how long it lasts.
Nour: What should I check besides the battery? I want to make sure it suits my studies before paying.
Dalia: Write a paragraph and open a study file, then try the sound while playing a short clip.
Nour: I just tried that, and typing is comfortable and the sound is clear. The file also opened quickly.
Dalia: Did you notice a problem with the screen? Check that the text is clear while you sit comfortably.
Nour: The text is clear to me. There is a small scratch on the lid, but it does not bother me.
Dalia: Then the lid’s appearance is not your priority. You still need to ask about the battery before deciding.
Nour: If I am satisfied with its condition, I will choose the first and keep three hundred riyals for the bag and other needs.
Dalia: That choice has clear reasons: it is light, suits your work and does not use your whole budget.
Nour: Thank you. I was only comparing prices, and now I understand what I actually need.
Dalia: Let us speak to the seller, then. If anything remains unclear, do not rush the purchase.
