My name is Mazen. I live on a small street. There are beautiful trees on it, but there are papers and plastic bottles on the ground. On Saturday morning, we go out with our neighbours to clean the street. It is nine o’clock, and the weather is pleasant. I carry large bags.
We put on gloves and start working. I collect the papers with my sister, and my mother collects the bottles. Our neighbour Hasan carries a broom. He sweeps in front of the houses, and my father helps him. Each person works in a nearby spot.
I walk to the big tree. There are many papers beneath it. My sister opens a bag, and I put the papers inside it. A little later, we have three full bags. We put them in the rubbish bin. I look around; the street is clean now.
At ten o’clock, we finish the work. We wash our hands, then sit in our neighbour’s garden. He offers us cold juice. I say, “Our street is beautiful!” My mother says, “Yes, we take care of it together.” I drink the juice, feeling happy.
