Friends begin a short football match and notice a new boy watching nearby. An invitation gives him a chance to join the game before the last goal.

On Friday, I go to the playing field with my friends. My name is Omar, and I like football. We carry a ball and bottles of water. The weather is lovely. We put our bags beside the field and get ready to play. We have half an hour before lunch.
We play in two teams. My team’s shirts are blue, and the other team’s shirts are red. I run after the ball and pass it to my friend. He scores the first goal. We are happy and clap. A little later, the other team scores a goal too.
I see a boy standing near the field and watching us. I go over to him and say, “Would you like to play with us?” He smiles and says, “Yes, thank you!” He is new to the neighbourhood. He takes a blue shirt from my bag and puts it on.
The boy plays on my team. We pass him the ball, and he scores the last goal! The match ends, and we sit on the grass. We drink water and talk together. We are tired and happy. We have a new friend, and that is nicer than winning.
