Sahar: Our playground received a 6,000-riyal grant. I propose a new slide costing 5,500.
Adil: Children would enjoy it, but some flooring is damaged. Repairing it seems more urgent than adding equipment.
Sahar: The damaged section is currently closed, and children use the rest. Must we allocate the entire grant to repairs?
Adil: No. The preliminary estimate is 2,000 riyals, pending technical confirmation. Reopening that section would increase play space.
Sahar: I understand. With the repair, the money will not cover the new slide. What is your next priority?
Adil: Shade: some families leave early because the seating area is exposed. We have a 3,000-riyal canopy quote.
Sahar: A canopy is useful, but children asked for new equipment. I do not want them to feel their views do not matter.
Adil: We take their views seriously and explain the tradeoff. Postponing something desirable does not mean rejecting it when another need is greater.
Sahar: Does the canopy quote include installation? We should not accept a low price and then discover additional costs.
Adil: Yes, and I will request written confirmation. We also need the responsible authority to approve its location before ordering.
Sahar: Then repairs and the canopy cost 5,000, leaving 1,000. Shall we buy a new bench?
Adil: I would temporarily reserve it for unexpected expenses until repair costs are confirmed.
Sahar: I agree to a reserve, provided we explain it. Does the repair include levelling the path to the equipment?
Adil: I will ask the technician; access matters to children and accompanying adults. We must not assume every task is included.
Sahar: If repair costs rise, we review the plan before buying the canopy. The grant is limited; we cannot promise money we lack.
Adil: Exactly. We ask the technician to identify essential work so we can distinguish what is needed now from what can wait.
Sahar: I will ask families about when they use the playground and what they need, rather than only their favourite equipment.
Adil: We also let children explain their choices. We may find that available space matters more than the number of play structures.
Sahar: I will retain the slide idea for a later grant, explaining that buying it is not guaranteed until funding is available.
Adil: That works. We publish prices and reasons for the priorities so everyone understands the allocation and why some wishes were postponed.
Sahar: Then repairs come first, followed by shade if the budget allows, while spending on other additions waits.
Adil: Yes. We finalise the plan after confirming scope and costs and hearing feedback, and clearly announce any adjustment.
