طَلَبُ مُهْلَةٍ إِضَافِيَّةٍ لِتَسْلِيمِ وَاجِبٍ
سَلْمَى: أُسْتَاذَةُ هُدَى، تَعَطَّلَ حَاسُوبِي أَمْسِ، وَأَخْشَى أَنْ أَتَأَخَّرَ فِي تَسْلِيمِ التَّقْرِيرِ. هَلْ نَتَحَدَّثُ قَلِيلًا؟
هُدَى: بِالطَّبْعِ. الْمَوْعِدُ الْأَصْلِيُّ غَدًا، الْخَمِيسَ، عِنْدَ الظُّهْرِ. أَفَقَدْتِ التَّقْرِيرَ كُلَّهُ أَمْ جُزْءًا مِنْهُ؟
سَلْمَى: فَقَدْتُ آخِرَ صَفْحَتَيْنِ فَقَطْ. أَمَّا الْمُقَدِّمَةُ وَالتَّحْلِيلُ فَلَدَيَّ نُسْخَةٌ مِنْهُمَا فِي بَرِيدِي الْإِلِكْتُرُونِيِّ.
هُدَى: هَذَا جَيِّدٌ. وَأَتَحْتَفِظِينَ بِالْبَيَانَاتِ الَّتِي اسْتَخْدَمْتِهَا، أَمْ تَحْتَاجِينَ إِلَى جَمْعِهَا مُجَدَّدًا؟
سَلْمَى: الْبَيَانَاتُ مَطْبُوعَةٌ عِنْدِي، وَالْمُشْكِلَةُ فِي الصِّيَاغَةِ الْأَخِيرَةِ. أَحْتَاجُ إِلَى إِعَادَةِ كِتَابَةِ الْخَاتِمَةِ وَمُرَاجَعَةِ الْجَدَاوِلِ.
هُدَى: أَفْهَمُ. مَا الْمَوْعِدُ الَّذِي تَقْتَرِحِينَهُ؟ أُرِيدُ وَقْتًا وَاقِعِيًّا يُتِيحُ لَكِ الْكِتَابَةَ وَالْمُرَاجَعَةَ مَعًا.
سَلْمَى: أَرْجُو أَنْ تَمْنَحِينِي مُهْلَةً إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فِي السَّادِسَةِ مَسَاءً. عِنْدَئِذٍ أَسْتَطِيعُ تَسْلِيمَ نُسْخَةٍ كَامِلَةٍ.
هُدَى: لِمَاذَا اخْتَرْتِ الْجُمُعَةَ؟ أَتَتَوَقَّعِينَ إِصْلَاحَ الْحَاسُوبِ غَدًا، أَمْ لَدَيْكِ طَرِيقَةٌ أُخْرَى لِلْعَمَلِ؟
سَلْمَى: لَنْ أَعْتَمِدَ عَلَى الْإِصْلَاحِ. حَجَزْتُ حَاسُوبًا فِي الْمَكْتَبَةِ غَدًا بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ، وَلَدَيَّ وَقْتٌ لِلْمُرَاجَعَةِ صَبَاحَ الْجُمُعَةِ.
هُدَى: حَسَنًا، أُوَافِقُ عَلَى هَذَا الْمَوْعِدِ، لِأَنَّ مُرَاجَعَتِي لِلتَّقَارِيرِ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ صَبَاحًا. لَا تُؤَجِّلِي التَّسْلِيمَ إِلَى الْأَحَدِ.
سَلْمَى: شُكْرًا لِتَفَهُّمِكِ. هَلْ أُرْسِلُ الْأَجْزَاءَ الْجَاهِزَةَ الْآنَ، ثُمَّ أُرْسِلُ الصَّفْحَتَيْنِ الْبَاقِيَتَيْنِ عِنْدَ الِانْتِهَاءِ؟
هُدَى: أُفَضِّلُ مِلَفًّا وَاحِدًا كَامِلًا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ. أَرْسِلِي الْيَوْمَ خُطَّةً قَصِيرَةً تُوَضِّحُ مَا أَنْجَزْتِهِ وَمَا بَقِيَ.
سَلْمَى: سَأُرْسِلُ الْخُطَّةَ فِي الثَّامِنَةِ مَسَاءً. وَهَلْ تَرْغَبِينَ فِي تَغْيِيرِ شَكْلِ الْمِلَفِّ بِسَبَبِ الْمَوْعِدِ الْجَدِيدِ؟
هُدَى: لَا، أَرْسِلِي التَّقْرِيرَ بِالصِّيغَةِ الْمَطْلُوبَةِ نَفْسِهَا. تَغَيَّرَ الْمَوْعِدُ فَقَطْ، أَمَّا مُتَطَلَّبَاتُ الْوَاجِبِ فَلَمْ تَتَغَيَّرْ.
سَلْمَى: مَفْهُومٌ. سَأَحْفَظُ نُسْخَةً إِضَافِيَّةً بَعْدَ كُلِّ جَلْسَةِ عَمَلٍ، حَتَّى لَا أَفْقِدَ التَّعْدِيلَاتِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى.
هُدَى: وَإِذَا ظَهَرَ عَائِقٌ جَدِيدٌ، فَأَخْبِرِينِي قَبْلَ ظُهْرِ الْجُمُعَةِ. لَا تَنْتَظِرِي حَتَّى يَمُرَّ مَوْعِدُ التَّسْلِيمِ.
سَلْمَى: سَأَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ. لَدَيَّ خُطَّةٌ وَاضِحَةٌ الْآنَ، وَلَنْ أَنْتَظِرَ عَوْدَةَ حَاسُوبِي حَتَّى أَبْدَأَ الْعَمَلَ.
هُدَى: جَيِّدٌ. اُكْتُبِي الْمَوْعِدَ الْجَدِيدَ فِي رِسَالَةِ الْخُطَّةِ أَيْضًا، لِيَكُونَ اتِّفَاقُنَا وَاضِحًا عِنْدَ الرُّجُوعِ إِلَيْهِ.
سَلْمَى: إِذَنْ أُرْسِلُ الْخُطَّةَ اللَّيْلَةَ، وَالتَّقْرِيرَ الْكَامِلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي السَّادِسَةِ مَسَاءً، بِالشَّكْلِ الْمَطْلُوبِ نَفْسِهِ.
هُدَى: نَعَمْ، هَذَا مَا اتَّفَقْنَا عَلَيْهِ. أَتَمَنَّى لَكِ عَمَلًا مُوَفَّقًا، وَسَأَنْتَظِرُ رِسَالَتَكِ هَذَا الْمَسَاءَ.

Salma: Ms Huda, my computer broke down yesterday, and I am afraid I will be late submitting the report. Could we talk briefly?
Huda: Of course. The original deadline is tomorrow, Thursday, at noon. Did you lose the entire report or part of it?
Salma: I lost only the last two pages. I have a copy of the introduction and analysis in my email.
Huda: That is good. Have you kept the data you used, or do you need to collect them again?
Salma: I have printed copies of the data. The problem is the final wording. I need to rewrite the conclusion and check the tables.
Huda: I understand. What deadline do you propose? I want a realistic time that allows you to both write and review.
Salma: Please give me until six on Friday evening. I will then be able to submit a complete version.
Huda: Why did you choose Friday? Do you expect the computer to be repaired tomorrow, or do you have another way to work?
Salma: I will not depend on the repair. I have booked a library computer tomorrow afternoon, and I have time to review on Friday morning.
Huda: All right. I agree to that deadline because I will review the reports on Saturday morning. Do not postpone submission until Sunday.
Salma: Thank you for understanding. Should I send the completed sections now and then send the remaining two pages when they are finished?
Huda: I would prefer one complete file on Friday. Today, send a short plan showing what you have completed and what remains.
Salma: I will send the plan at eight this evening. Do you want the file format changed because of the new deadline?
Huda: No. Send the report in the same required format. Only the deadline has changed; the assignment requirements have not.
Salma: Understood. I will save an extra copy after each work session so I do not lose the revisions again.
Huda: If a new obstacle arises, tell me before noon on Friday. Do not wait until the submission deadline has passed.
Salma: I will do that. I have a clear plan now, and I will not wait for my computer to return before starting work.
Huda: Good. Include the new deadline in the plan email too, so our agreement is clear when we refer back to it.
Salma: So I will send the plan tonight and the complete report on Friday at six in the evening, in the same required format.
Huda: Yes, that is what we agreed. I hope your work goes well, and I will look out for your email this evening.
