Salim describes a failed rice dish. Nabil helps him trace what changed and plan a smaller, more careful attempt.

Salim: I made rice yesterday, but it came out dry, and some of it stuck to the bottom of the pot.
Nabil: Did you follow a written recipe? Tell me what you did step by step.
Salim: Yes, I used a recipe for two people, but increased the rice because two friends visited me.
Nabil: Did you increase the water too? I want to understand which amounts you changed and which you left as they were.
Salim: I used the same amount of water. I thought increasing only the rice would not make much difference.
Nabil: That may explain the dryness. What did you do after the water began boiling in the pot?
Salim: I left the heat high, then became occupied with a long call. I forgot to lower it as the recipe says.
Nabil: Then we have two possible causes: too little water for the new quantity, and high heat for a long time.
Salim: That is clearer now. I thought I was no good at cooking, but the mistake lies in specific steps.
Nabil: Yes, and it is easier to correct an identified step. Next time, start with the original quantity without increasing it.
Salim: I will do that. Should I use the same cup to measure the rice and water according to the recipe?
Nabil: Yes, and read all the steps before starting. Prepare the ingredients so you do not search for them while cooking.
Salim: How can I remember the timing? I do not want to become distracted again and forget what is on the stove.
Nabil: Set a timer according to the recipe and stay nearby to watch the cooking. The alert helps you remember the next step.
Salim: I will also put off calls until I finish. Should I change the type of rice in the new attempt?
Nabil: I would prefer you to use the same type first, to see the effect of correcting the water and heat without another change.
Salim: Good idea. I will write down what I did this time, then compare the result with the next attempt.
Nabil: Good. Include the quantities and timing in your notes, and do not stop at saying “it worked” or “it did not work.”
Salim: Then I will start with the recipe for two, measure the ingredients, and pay close attention to the heat and timing.
Nabil: That is a clearer plan. After the attempt, tell me what changed so we can understand the result together.
