Samir and Huda explain why textbook choices can differ.

Samir: I lean towards the digital textbook for this course: it costs twenty riyals, while the printed one costs sixty.
Huda: The difference is large, but a device is expensive. You own a computer, whereas I read on a small phone.
Samir: True, I did not count the device cost. Digital is not cheaper for everyone just because its price is lower.
Huda: I also concentrate more on paper because messages on my phone interrupt me, especially when reading long chapters.
Samir: I can turn off notifications while studying. Digital search is faster than manually looking for a term I have forgotten.
Huda: That is a real advantage, but finding an answer quickly does not always mean we have understood it well.
Samir: I agree with you, so I write a summary after reading. The method matters too, not only the medium.
Huda: What about reading on the train? I revise my lessons there and do not have a stable internet connection.
Samir: According to its description, this edition allows chapters to be downloaded beforehand. I will try the sample offline before buying.
Huda: Good. Paper needs no battery, although carrying three books makes my bag heavy.
Samir: So each choice involves a trade-off. Will you buy a new copy or look for a used one first?
Huda: I found a copy for thirty-five riyals, but it is an earlier edition. I will ask the teacher about differences before buying it.
Samir: I need to read the digital edition’s terms: this price may not mean permanent access.
Huda: The page says access ends with the academic year. Will you need the book after that?
Samir: I may need it as a reference, so I will include the access period in the comparison rather than price alone.
Huda: The library lends the printed edition for two weeks. We can try it before making a final purchase decision.
Samir: That helps me make a practical comparison. I will read the same chapter on screen and paper, then check my understanding.
Huda: I will try the digital sample too. I do not want to reject it because my first experience was frustrating.
Samir: I may choose digital for this course and print for a reference I keep: the purpose changes the decision.
Huda: I may choose print because it suits my daily journey better. That does not make it the best choice for every student.
Samir: Then we compare total cost, concentration, and access duration, and try both formats before judging them.
Huda: Exactly. We may choose differently even though each of us has based the decision on reasonable grounds.
