Nadir’s family welcomed a student called Adam as part of a student exchange programme. Adam had come to learn Arabic and would stay with them for two weeks. At the door, Nadir said, “Welcome! This is my family.” Everyone welcomed the guest and asked about his journey, then Nadir showed him his room and the small desk inside it.

At the dinner table, Adam asked about the family’s schedule. Nadir’s mother said, “We have breakfast at half past seven, and the school bus arrives at eight.” Adam asked her to repeat the times slowly, then wrote them in a small notebook. He said, “Thank you. I want to be ready.”

Nadir asked his guest, “How do you go to school in your country?” Adam answered, “I walk with my sister because the school is close to our home.” Then they talked about their free time. Both liked football, so they agreed to play after finishing their homework the following day.

In the morning, Adam looked at the times in his notebook and went down to the kitchen ten minutes before breakfast. He helped Nadir put the glasses on the table. He said, “I was worried yesterday, but I feel comfortable now.” They had breakfast with the family, then took their bags and went out to wait for the bus.
