My name is Salma. My teacher is kind. He explains the lesson calmly and helps me with reading. Today I want to say to him, “Thank you.” I have a small notebook and a blue pen. I put the notebook and pen in a lovely bag. This is my gift for my teacher.

I write on a card, “Thank you, my teacher.” I read the card, then put it in the bag. My mother comes and looks at the gift. She asks, “Where is your name?” I look at the card. My name is not there! I write my name under the message.

In the morning, I go to school. The gift is in my schoolbag. I sit in the classroom and listen to the lesson. After the lesson, I go to my teacher. I give him the bag and say, “This is a small gift for you.”

My teacher opens the bag and reads the card. He smiles and says, “Thank you, Salma! I am happy about this message.” He puts the notebook on his desk. I am happy too. The gift is small, but my joy is great.
