Giving your phone number in Arabic: a mobile phone with a numbered keypad and contact card on a purple background.
ABOUT THIS CONVERSATION

Hasan and Bilal practise asking for a phone number in class. Their invented practice sequences, 0123456789 and 9876543210, are learning examples rather than personal contact details.

Hasan: Shall we practise phone numbers?

Bilal: Yes. This is a number for practice only.

Hasan: All right, what is your phone number in this practice exercise?

Bilal: Zero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.

Hasan: Please repeat the last digits slowly.

Bilal: Six, seven, eight, nine.

Hasan: Is the last digit eight?

Bilal: No, the last digit is nine.

Hasan: I understand. I am writing the digits now.

Bilal: And what is your phone number in the exercise?

Hasan: Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero.

Bilal: So the first digit is nine, and the last is zero.

Hasan: Yes, that is correct.

Bilal: Thank you! Shall we read the two numbers again?
